In mid August this year Mohill will join a growing number of towns and villages around Ireland hosting a Bluegrass Festival.
"This form of music and song has been growing in popularity and the lovers of Bluegrass music travel the length and breadth of the country most weekends to listen to this authentic music," said Tommy Kelleher, member of the organising committee.
"These gigs aren't just about music sessions but are also social occasions where people of like music minds meet and enjoy the friendship of the weekends.
"Such festivals are also a huge plus for the host town and add greatly to their economic life especially in the times that are in it presently where every euro generated is a welcome bonus to the town," Tommy added.
On this Saturday night, January 8th, Mohill will get a flavour of what's to come when the organising committee hosts a Bluegrass Concert in Clarke's Hotel commencing at 9 o'clock.
It promises to be an entertaining affair with the ever popular Moyra Frazer and 'Bending the Strings' performing.
"This is a good chance to get into festive mood, especially as people were snowed in around the Christmas and deprived of a bit of live music," Tommy said.
This concert is a fundraiser to help defray the cost of a planned summer festival. Admission is €10.
