The Irish Council for Social Housing is currently searching for Ireland’s best social housing schemes for the 2013 Community Housing Awards.

Sponsored by Allianz Insurance, the awards aim to recognise and reward excellence in the delivery of social housing right across Ireland.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Community Housing Awards, and to celebrate this landmark the number of categories has been expanded to 10. These include: Housing for Older People, Homeless Projects, Regeneration, Innovative Finance Solutions, Collaboration Initiatives, Housing for People with Disabilities, Housing Management Initiatives, Traveller Accomodation, Mixed Communities, and Housing for Families.

Speaking as the search for this year’s nominees was launched, ICSH Chairman Donal McManus said: “The awards promote and showcase how innovative design can help create sustainable communities and impact positively on the lives of tenants and residents, the local and wider community and contribute towards a sustainable environment.”

All local authorities, housing associations and housing co-ops can enter, with each organisation allowed to enter two projects in two separate categories. Nominated projects should be completed between July 2010 and July 2013 and should be occupied.

Entry forms can be obtained from the ICSH and must be returned by July 5. Winners will be announced on September 18 and 19.
