Despite a 14% drop in new car sales, the used car business is thriving at Michael Shaw Car Sales.

“We have seen our used car business grow month on month” says Mr Shaw, adding that customers are “reluctant” to purchase cars with 131 registrations.

“Not just because of the superstitious side of it, but [they] also feel that the 131 registrations may go against trade-in values in years to come. We find that customers are buying very fresh 2010, 2011 and 2012 cars, which creates a large selection of 2002 to 2008 cars on our forecourt as part exchange.”

“After almost 30 years in the motor business we fully understand the needs of our customers” Mr Shaw explains. “Quality, price and after sales service are the vital components of our business.”

At Michael Shaw Car Sales, stock is changed on a weekly basis and a wide variety of quality second hand cars are available, including Audi, Skoda, Toyota and Volkswagen. There is also an experienced sale team to help those looking to trade-in or buy. Mr Shaw says; “We can value your trade-in in a matter of minutes and give sound advice on what car might suit a prospective customer, taking into account the emission base road tax bands, whether [a] diesel or petrol car is the right choice and arranging finance that can suit the customer.”

Michael Shaw Car Sales is located on the Athlone Road, Longford, and is open from Monday to Friday 9am-6pm, and on Saturdays 10am-2pm.
