The former Wessel Cable factory at Aughafad on the outskirts of Longford town is to be sold at auction later this month with a low guide price in the region of €350,000 - €375,000.
The complex was originally constructed by Wessel Cable, before coming under the control of ABB and later B3 Cables.
Sitting on a 2.17 hectare site, the factory consists of a warehouse building and two-storey office block which add up to an impressive 11,665 square metres of space.
The buildings feature steel portal frame construction with cladded walls with windows for natural light, and also boasts a double skin insulated pitched metal deck roof, hi-bay lighting, concrete floors, loading access via six automated grade level roller shutter doors, a decommissioned sprinkler system, and an oil fired warm air blower system.
The warehouse has a clear internal height of approximately six metres, and there is a metal-framed timber mezzanine of approximately 400 square metres within the warehouse area.
Two storey office accomodation is situated to the front of the complex, and its fit-out includes painted and plastered walls, suspended ceilings with recessed lighting, oil heating, wall-mounted sockets, linoleum flooring and single glazed aluminium-framed windows. Thereis also a reception area, canteen, and staff facilities on the ground floor.
The auction takes place at 3pm on October 23 at Buswells Hotel in Dublin, and the sale is being handled by Savills Ireland. Further details can be found on the company’s website: www.savills.ie.
