The Mid-Summer Failte Festival is set to return to Longford town on June 24-26 with a packed programme of events for all the family. Once again the event is being co-ordinated by Longford Chamber of Commerce and the Longford Leader.

Full details of the festival programme are due to be announced soon but already we understand that it will include many of the highlights from the successful inaugural event last year. One of these was the country market on Breaden’s Lane, which ran for two days, Friday and Saturday.

After their Eurovision success Jedward will be playing in the Longford Arms on Sat 25th. The Fancy Dress night returns on the Saturday night with all local bars and restaurants invited to take part and organise their own fancy dress themed events.

New to this year’s line up will be the Longford Pig Derby which takes place on Friday night and the Panto Derby which takes place on Saturday night when local bars will enter teams as Panto horses and they get to race round the town. .If you want to get involved either with a stall at the market or feel your organisation may wish to organise an event in conjunction with the Festival, please contact Lisa Brady on 087-0683605 or longchm@eircom.net
