The Hotel and Catering Post Leaving Certificate Students of Templemichael College recently held a function to show their appreciation of their work experience employers. The work experience module is an integral part of the practical training necessary for the Hotel and Catering Course at FETAC level 5. Local employers provide necessary placement for the students every year.

The students catered for the employers, board of management and invited guests. For this occasion they produced a buffet consisting of a variety of dishes from many countries including dishes from Poland, India, Africa, Slovakia, France and Ireland. The students demonstrated their excellent hospitality and presentation skills. This reflects the diverse cultures of the students enrolled in this course.

Work experience employers were happy to attend the event and were pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the dishes presented on the day. Each employer was presented with a mural of their business establishment in appreciation of their contribution. The murals were created by the Post Leaving Certificate Art and Design department in Templemichael College as a cross curricular link.

Templemichael Hotel and Catering students would like to thank the following establishments for their facilitation of the programme: The Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, The Hilamar Hotel, Kinnegad, Gleesons Townhouse and Restaurant Roscommon, Lough Rynn Castle, Mohill, The Fatted Calf, Glasson, Cooneys Hotel, Ballymahon, Keenans, Tarmonbarry, Feericks, Rathowen,The Annebrook Hotel, Mullingar, The Black Olive Longford, Jac’ o Bites Longford, M.B.
