Course aims to help mental health

Over the past number of years mental illness and suicide have been issues of great concern, not only for those working directly with them, but for the entire community. These difficulties and tragedies have hit all communities, age groups and social classes.

The Gatekeepers’ Programme aims to develop thinking around the subject of mental health in general, its relevance to people’s lives today and the need and importance of maintaining ones own mental health and general sense of well-being.

GROW, in conjunction with the Health Service Executive, have developed a five week programme in which they will provide knowledge and information to anyone over 18 years of age who wishes to attend. This course will commence in the Bridgeways Family Resource Centre, Dean Egan Library, Main St., Ballymahon Co Longford. The course is free of charge and all are welcome.

The issues the programme will focus on are Understanding and Promoting Positive Wellbeing, Life Coping Skills, Stress Management & Change, Suicide Awareness & Prevention and Addiction/Bereavement.
