Shaws Department Stores opened their new outlet on the Market Square in Longford town last Thursday, and shoppers turned out in force to see what the shop has to offer.
At 11am, an official ceremony took place to mark the occasion, with Town Mayor, Cllr Paul Connell welcoming Shaws to Longford, while the company’s Managing Director, Jonathon Shaw and store manager, Colleen Kelly gave a speech to staff, management and directors.
“We are delighted with the continued development and expansion of the company,” Jonathon Shaw said. “We are looking forward to further growing our business and catering for our new customers in Longford with our exciting selection of top brands that Shaws’ name has become synonymous with.”
A blessing was then carried out by Fr Tom Healy, Canon David Catterall and Rev Paul Maxwell before the ribbon was cut by company director Mr G T Shaw, and the first customers welcomed into the new outlet.
Shaws celebrated the opening of their new Longford branch with a range of special offers, festivities and fun over the following days, with 2FM providing a live broadcast with Rick O’Shea from the store on the afternoon of the opening.
