Shannon Key West Hotel in Allsop sale

The Shannon Key West Hotel in Rooskey is one of 127 properties under the hammer during the Allsop property sale on October 3 in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

The hotel, previously owned by the Flynn family, was closed last October by the court-appointed liquidator with the loss of 20 jobs.

The business had held debts of more than €3 million owed mainly to AIB, along with €200,000 owed to the tax authorities. The well-known hotel comprises of 39 bedrooms arranged over ground and two upper floors. Internally, the hotel layout included The Rooskey Inn, The Kilglass Restaurant, the Shannon Suite (a conferencing centre), Lough Rynn Suite and Club Key West Leisure Club.

The property overlooks the River Shannon, which provides a link to the Shannon-Erne Waterways connecting the Shannon and the Erne. The hotel was once valued at €5 million prior to a write-down to just under half that in 2010. The reserve price at auction is not to exceed €300,000.

A number of other local properties are under the hammer on the same date, including a house at 65 Ardnacassagh. Described as a freehold three bedroom semi-detached house, the reserve price is not to exceed €20,000.
