Prestigious award for Abbey Hotel

There was plenty of reason for the Grealy Family and the staff of the Abbey Hotel to celebrate this week after they picked up the Best Hotel Restaurant Award for county Roscommon at the Connacht Regional Final of the Irish Restaurant Awards.

The ceremony took place at Hotel Westport and reflecting on their marvellous success, the Abbye Hotels’ Anya Grealy commented, “We are absolutely delighted to have won the prestigious ‘Best Hotel Restaurant Award’ for the county, especially against such stiff competition amongst our peers.”

This annual event is jointly sponsored by the Sunday Independent LIFE magazine, Pallas Foods and the Restaurants Association of Ireland.

Abbey Hotel General Manager Tom Grealy remarked, “We would have to say it is a fair reflection on the quality of our food here in the Abbey and we would like to pay tribute, in particular to our dedicated staff and personnel,and to all those who nominated us. We look forward with great anticipation to the National Finals later this Summer.”

Over 250 restaurant owners and staff celebrated their hard work and achievements at the awards ceremony in Westport which recognise the best of Irish cuisine.

The restaurant industry is the biggest employer within the Irish tourism sector, now employing over 64,000 people.
