Lakeland Dairies announced two new appointments at the company last Monday.

Peter Sheridan was appointed Financial Controller, while Michael Ryan became Company Secretary, following the retirement of Gerald McCarthy who held the position for the past 22 years.

Mr Sheridan – a native of Cornafean, Co Cavan - has been working for Lakeland Dairies since 1983. During that time he held a number of managerial roles and has been the Financial Controller of Dairy Operations since 2006.

Sheridan is a Certified Public Accountant and an MBA graduate of Smurfit School of Business, UCD. He recently participated in the Strategic Leadership Programme for Chief Financial Officers programme run by Enterprise Ireland and Stanford University. A past pupil of Coronea National School, he also attended St Patrick’s College Cavan and Sligo Institute of Technology. Married to Ann, the couple have three children - Leontia, Shauna and Conor.

“Peter has a track record of leading the financial control function to deliver enhanced profitability,” CEO, Lakeland Dairies, Michael Hanley stated. “In key projects he has contributed to the commercial and strategic success of the Group. I welcome him to the senior management team and look forward to his continuing strong contribution to the success and development of Lakeland Dairies.”

Mr Hanley also congratulated Michael Ryan on his appointment.

“This is on the retirement of Gerald McCarthy who has provided 22 years of distinguished service to the society,” the CEO added. “Michael has served Lakeland Dairies with distinction and we will value the continuing expertise and acumen which he brings to his new role with the Group.”

Lakeland Dairies operates across fifteen counties on a cross border basis. The co-op processes over 700 million litres of milk annually into a range of value-added dairy food-service products and dairy food ingredients. It exports over 170 domestic dairy products across the world.
