Longford Chamber of Commerce and Industry were delighted to be associated with the Longford Citizens Information Centre in presenting an information briefing on the Health Insurance market.

The presentation entitled ‘Health Insurance - Is it time to change?’ received huge support from the public.

Dermot Goode of Cornmarket Group, Financial Services Ltd, spoke about the various health insurers, the offers across all providers, pitfalls, tax reliefs, value for money and any implications for those who wish to change their insurance providers.

Longford Chamber of Commerce President, Seamus Butler, said that the Chamber was delighted to partner such a presentation as it gave business people and the broader public an opportunity to reduce their outgoings in a practical and immediate manner.

Mr Butler said that people were worried at the moment about the rising costs of health insurance and that the talk was aimed at making people better informed to make difficult financial decisions. He thanked Connie Gerety for allowing the Chamber to partner the talk.

Mr Goode, who has over 25 years’ experience in the health Insurance Industry, gave advice on a number of policies available. He told how budget changes, health insurance levies and increasing claims costs have driven up policy prices in recent years.

He said that there was always value to be had and encouraged those in attendance to ‘shop around’ and examine the details of the individual policies.

Mr Goode said that the bottom line for consumers was to assess the ‘cost v cover’ of the policy that they are buying into.
