Homebase gets set to raise funds for teenage cancer ward

Homebase stores across the Republic of Ireland are appealing to the local community to get involved in a fundraising opportunity later this month to support the refurbishment of a teenage cancer ward at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Volunteers are urgently needed to collect in their local Homebase store on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 August. During the weekend Homebase staff will also be getting into the fundraising spirit by coming to work dressed to a ‘T’, embracing the fancy dress theme by wearing tank tops, tiaras and ties.

Volunteer fundraisers will encourage customers to donate their loose change to raise vital funds for the refurbishment of a cancer ward for young people at Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. In partnership with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital and Teenage Cancer Trust, Homebase is raising money to support the refurbishment of the St John’s Cancer Ward. This will help to improve and develop the current environment for young people and their families, providing the best possible support in their fight against cancer.

Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK based charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for the six young people aged between 13 and 24 diagnosed with cancer every day. The charity builds specialist units within hospitals that bring young people together to be treated by teenage cancer experts in a place designed just for them.

If you are interested in lending a hand for one or two hours at your local Homebase store please call 00 44 20 7612 0721 or email c.brocklehurst@teenagecancertrust.org <mailto:c.brocklehurst@teenagecancertrust.org>
