Longford County Council have taken-in-charge a further three previously unfinished housing estates.

The move at last week’s sitting of the Council follows on from last month when Goldsmith Meadows, the first of the 128 unfinished estates, was taken-in-charge by the local authority.

Certain aspects of the upkeep of Mahon Avenue, Newtownforbes, Carragh and Cnoc na Greine in Granard will now be the responsibility of Longford County Council.

Applications have been lodged by the Council to take in charge a further 22 estates, which would bring the number of unfinished estates in the county down to 102.

In a recent interview with the Leader, senior executive officer with Longford County Council, Terry Rooney said the Council were focusing on carrying out all works on unfinished estates to a taking-in-charge standard to aid the process of resolving the unfinished estate problem in the county as swiftly as possible.
