Chamber to host special event
Longford Chamber of Commerce will host an exciting event entitled ‘The Twelfth of The Twelfth of The Twelfth’ on December 12, which will see retail outlets across Longford town open for 12 hours, with many offering 12 percent discounts on goods throughout the day.
Speaking to the Leader, President, Longford Chamber of Commerce, Seamus Buttler said that the free parking move was “an improvement” on previous years but said the “paid parking situation” in the town still needed to be addressed.
“We welcome the decision to provide free parking from December 19 to 24 and on the Saturdays before Christmas,” he said.
The event on December 12 next is hoped to generate a great atmosphere in the town and attract shoppers from all over the region. “Longford Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring ‘The Twelfth of The Twelfth of The Twelfth’ event and already we have a large number of retailers that have signed up.
“This marks a new departure and highlights very clearly that Longford town is open for business and will be one of the best towns in the midlands to shop in this Christmas”, Mr Butler concluded.
