It’s that time of year again; the Mohill Show is open for business and the 87th event is all set for August 17 next.

This year, the committee will host the All-Ireland Aberdeen Angus Championship organised by the Irish Aberdeen Angus Association, and sponsored by Univet Ireland Ltd, Cootehill, Cavan.

This Championship will see a fantastic display of Aberdeen Angus livestock from all over Ireland on the day.

“The Co Leitrim 2014 Calf Championship Final - sponsored by The Logan Family, Corner House, Mohill - will also take place, and with Qualifiers coming from all the Leitrim shows this will be one of the main features of Mohill Show,” added a spokesperson. “As well as the seven Exhibit Classes in the Charolais Section, all of which are sponsored by the Irish Charolais Cattle Society, Mohill Show will host a Regional Qualifier for the Final of the Irish Charolais Cattle Society Youth Development Programme 2014.

“This will be held at the Charolais Society National Show in Carrick-on-Shannon on September 14 next.”

Planxty Maguire’s Bar & Restaurant, Hill Street, Mohill are kindly sponsoring the All-Ireland Senior Beef Shorthorn Bull Class, while Mrs Ruth Dobson has presented the Committee with a Cup for the Champion Shorthorn Calf. The Cup is in memory of her late husband, William - a committed and active Member of Mohill Show Committee for many years. William passed away in 2013.

The committee together with Pharvet Ireland Ltd are sponsoring the All-Ireland Non Pedigree Suckler Cow & Calf Championship which this year will be run on a Direct Entry Basis.

Details of all the Cattle Classes are in the Schedule now available from Mohill Show Office on (071) 9631007 or by calling (087) 20154746/ (086) 8710215.
