Leading Longford town based accountancy firm, O’Brien & Company, have launched a new, dedicated personal debt service – The Debt Clinic (

Speaking at the launch of the new service, Eugene O’Brien, The Debt Clinic’s Personal Insolvency Practitioner said: “I am delighted to offer this new service to those struggling unnecessarily with debt problems. We offer help and guidance to all those who have difficulty paying their debts such as mortgages, personal loans and credit cards. Concerns about debt are a major cause of stress for Irish people today but the new personal insolvency processes offer a lifeline to those in difficulty.”

The Debt Clinic expects a significant uptake on its services and will offer the new statutory Debt Settlement Arrangements (DSA) and Personal Insolvency Arrangements (PIA). The Debt Clinic will offer free initial consultations to customers. Eugene O’Brien added: “We are already seeing significant interest in the service. Our policy is to offer our initial customers their first consultation free of charge. You cannot expect people in financial difficulty to pay fees up front.”
