Edgeworthstown is a part of Longford that is steeped in history, and this week there is going to more history recorded there when the 80th County Longford Ploughing Championships take place on the land of Harry and James Reynolds on Sunday April 13 next at 12 noon.

The ploughing championships have become one of the biggest events in the country outside of the National Ploughing Championships with over 100 competitors and lots of fun-filled entertainment for all the family to enjoy. This week’s Longford Leader contains a FREE Ploughing Supplement to mark this very special event and with everything from history and culture to message of support from the minister for agriculture and Anna May McHugh and a wealth of knowledge about farming and the land, this colourful upplement contains a little something for everyone.
