Speaking to the Leader this week, Chairperson Cynthia Geelan confirmed that this year’s ploughing site will be in the townlands of Lurgan and Foxhall, within walking distance of the village of Legan.

Pauraic Dalton and Frank Lyons are joint hosts of this years event. Only three miles east of the N55, access is convenient for the large entourage of competitors and visitors who travel from afar every year, to enjoy the Longford match and family field day.

Legan hosted the milestone 70th ploughing match and field day in 2004, courtesy of the McCarthy family, Cloonagh.

Everyone wishing to help with this prestigious event are welcome to attend the next meeting on Monday, February 9 at 9.30pm in Mitchell’s, Legan.
