Longford’s hosting of a world renowned cycling event this weekend could net the local economy up to €100,000 in additional revenue.

That’s the figure industry experts believe could stem from the first stage of the An Post Ras as the county town gears up to welcome over 700 people to the town this Sunday.

Accommodation in a number of venues throughout the town are understood to be virtually booked out for the culmination of the event’s first stage with participants expected to arrive into town at around 3pm.
