Farmers Feed Families launched the first of its initiatives called ‘Tweeting Farmers’ last week.

The project, which is being spearheaded by Moyne native Anne Brady aims to shine a light on food production and consumption.

Every Monday morning, a farmer will take over the @tweetingfarmers twitter account and speak to the public about what is happening on their farm, the many decisions that need to be made on a daily basis, and the challenges and highlights that each day brings.

“The aim of this project is not only to educate consumers, but also to promote the quality of Irish produce direct from the farm,” said Ms Brady.

“Farming is not just a job, it’s a lifestyle. Like Twitter, a farmer is always ‘on’ and we hope Tweeting Farmers will highlight this.

“Irish farmers work extremely hard and produce food to an exceptionally high standard – this is something which we all need to appreciate.”
