Households may
face extra water fee

It would appear that thousands of households currently paying charges to group water schemes will have to pay up to double their current bill when water charges are introduced.

It would appear that thousands of households currently paying charges to group water schemes will have to pay up to double their current bill when water charges are introduced.

The water charge will be split into two sections, “water in” and “water out”. According to the Central Statistics Office (CSO) 53,979 homeowners draw their water from a private group scheme at an annual charge of up to 100, but their wastewater is discharged into public sewers. Such households will be charged for “water out” along with their current fees.

The billing and payment structure has not yet been set out for the water charges, which were due to be introduced this year, but may be delayed until 2015.
