Mart cancelled

The cattle sale at the Connacht Gold mart in Mohill which was due to take place this Saturday, February 2 has been cancelled as a mark of respect to the two men who died at the Connacht Gold store in Longford town last Tuesday, when a wall inside the building collapsed on them. The board, and management of Connacht Gold have taken the opportunity to sympathise with the families of those who died, and it is understood that funerals will take place tomorrow Friday.

Sean Mulleady (47) from Drumlish, and father-of-two Pat Gaffney who was from Tarmonbarry and in his 60s, lost their lives when an internal wall gave way, trapping them and four others beneath, just after 2pm on Tuesday. Two of those injured, have since been discharged from hospital, while two others are under the care of staff at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore.

Mr Gaffney’s funeral will take place on Friday, February 1 at 12 noon, with burial afterwards to Kilbarry Cemetery, while Mr Mulleady will be burried at the new cemetery following funeral Mass in St Mary’s Church, Drumlish at 12 noon on February 1, 2013.
