A creative Granard farmer has launched his new invention that takes the danger out of dosing cattle .
The KO Doser, which was warmly received at the recently held All-Ireland Ploughing Championships came onto the market in recent weeks after its creator Vincent Kiernan became inundated with orders.
“This all started a few years ago when I sustained a hand injury during cattle dosing,” Mr Kiernan explained, adding that it was his belief that there was a safer way to carry out the task.
“Initially I made one KO Doser for my own use and I found it really good. It is a one man system and takes the hassle out of the whole thing.”
Mr Kiernan has been farming his land in Coolarty all his life, and as he said himself, “I’ve seen all the pitfalls”. He has now patented the KO Doser and has another agricultural invention already in the pipeline. The KO Doser works on a ratched system and subsequently gives the farmer the power of 4:1 to the animal. There is also a clutch in place, which leaves the device safe and secure.
