Representatives of Bus Eireann attended a public meeting in Rooskey earlier this week to establish the effect of the loss of one of its routes through the village. The meeting is part of an ongoing campaign by local residents to have the 23 route restored to the area, following the company’s decision to axe it late last year.

While one stop daily was re-introduced, early in the morning and late in the evening, it has not satisifed locals who have no transport to do shopping in nearby towns like Longford. At the meeting, Bus Eireann representatives heard a number of suggestions about how the company could make savings while facilitating the route through the village.
