Backstage Theatre is a hive of activity as a group of over 30 actors from across the midlands prepare to take to the stage from July 7-9 under the direction of the renowned director Padraic McIntyre of Livin Dred Theatre Company in his showband comedy ‘The Carnival at Glenaduff’.

The show, which has actors from drama groups across Longford, Roscommon, Westmeath, Leitrim and Cavan, is set in 1960’s Ireland during the golden showband era. The show was first staged in Cavan two years ago and was a huge success with it’s winning mixture of drama, comedy and well known showband classics played live on stage.

The long awaited carnival dance is about to kick off. The girls are dolled up, the lads are getting a few pints in before the dance and the Boyle Brothers are gunning for John Joe.

Jack High and the 4 Aces is the show’s very own showband with lead singer, well known local musican Sean Rooney, grandson of the showband sensation, the late Brian Harkin of Brian Harkin and the Plainsmen. The band will be rolling out hits such as “Jackson”,“Lovely Leitrim”, the Brian Harkin hit “Just Walk on By” and many more. This certainlyl is one toe tapping comedy you won’t want to miss.

The Carnival at Glenaduff runs from Thurs 7th – Sat 9th July in Backstage Theatre, Longford. Tickets are €18/€16 and are available on 043 33 47888 or online on www.backstage.ie
