FRIDAY AUGUST 14

THE MARQUEE IN DRUMLISH FESTIVAL

The annual music festival begins this Friday, headlined by AC/DC and Foo Fighters tribute band Flick of the Switch. The night will also feature local rock bands Reprisal and Brave Giant/Poroma. iRadio DJ Fergal D’Arcy will make an appearance.

BRIAN BORU FUN FESTIVAL WEEKEND

In association with Colmcille GAA, a 3 day family festival will be held in Lebeen Park this weekend. On Friday an over 40s GAA match, a Colmcille VS Mullinaghta game and novelty games of bubble soccer will take place.

BALLINAMORE 10K AND 5K ROAD RACES

Ballinamore Athletic Club is organising its usual 10K and 5K road races this Friday evening at 7:30pm. Registration at the Sports Hall from 6pm.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 15

CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL

Skelly’s Bar in Ballymahon is set to host a craft beer festival this Saturday, attended by some of the region’s leading craft breweries. A barbeque and live music with headliners Plutonic Dust will also feature.

Four craft breweries will be present: St. Mel’s Brewing Company from Longford, Black Donkey from Roscommon, Bo Bristle from Banagher, Offaly and Reel Deel Brewery from Crossmolina, Mayo. Families can visit during the day, and from 7pm there will be a cover charge of 10 euro for the live music.

THE MARQUEE IN DRUMLISH FESTIVAL

Fr Manning Gaels will host a Family Fun Day at their grounds in Monaduff from 1pm on Saturday afternoon, including bouncing castles, a pet farm and carnival games. Back at the festival venue later that evening, Patrick Feeney will entertain the audience before country music star Nathan Carter takes the stage.

BRIAN BORU FUN FESTIVAL WEEKEND

On Saturday there will be an 80K cycle from the Community Centre in Aughnacliffe at 9am. Bubble soccer will be open to everyone from 4pm. There will be a car treasure hunt from the Cross from 6 to 9pm, followed by live music in Murtagh’s Bar in Aughnacliffe.

PIG ROAST IN RATHOWEN

There will be a pig roast in Feerick’s Hotel this Saturday with live music by Rhythm and Sticks. Tickets are available in the Post Office or from any committee member at 10 euro.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 16

TARMONBARRY 100K CYCLING CHALLENGE

This annual event, hosted by St. Barry’s GAA club, suits all cyclists, with 100K, 50K and 20K challenges on the day. The cycles will all depart from and return to the village of Tarmonbarry. Registration commences at 9am sharp at St. Barry’s GAA centre, and the first cycle begins at 10am.

On Sunday, a charity Monster Bingo event will be held at the ‘98 Memorial Hall in Ballinamuck. The music will continue at the marquee with Hothouse Flowers being joined on the evening’s line-up by The Aftermath, Rhythm & Sticks and 4 Degrees West.

BALLINAMUCK OLDE FAIR DAY

The third annual Olde Fair Day in Ballinamuck kicks off this Sunday with a parade of vintage vehicles led by Declan Nerney and the Longford Pipe Band to the ‘98 Bar.

MOHILL’S 88TH ANNUAL AGRICULTURAL SHOW

A great day out for the family awaits at Mohill this Sunday as their 88th annual agricultural show exhibits the best in local livestock and produce.

SUMMER BARBEQUE IN LANESBORO

A barbeque in aid of Mayo/Roscommon Hospice will take place at Clarke’s Bar this Sunday at 4pm. There will be a pig on a spit supplied by Terry McLoughlin the butcher.

BRIAN BORU FUN FESTIVAL WEEKEND

On Sunday there will be a 5KM Brian Boru Rowing Challenge at 2pm in Dernafest, Lough Gowna. There will be presentations and music in Murtagh’s, Aughnacliffe following the rowing challenge. In the park there will be bubble soccer, golf, football, bouncing castles, a barbeque and refreshments.
