The parish of Rathcline and town of Lanesboro are set for a major hooley this August bank holiday weekend - Friday, August 2 to Monday, August 5 - with the staging of their Gathering celebration.

An action packed weekend of festivities is planned, including a concert featuring Brendan Bowyer with his showband and Aisling Bowyer on Saturday, August 3.

While on Sunday night, the Lanesboro Gathering Festival welcomes the Knights of Leon, the premier Kings of Leon tribute band.

It’s been over 50 years since Lanesboro had a marquee in the town and it will welcome one back for this special occasion.

Friday, August 2 will feature local bands and artists performing in the marquee, and throughout the weekend there will be an audio and visual journey through the history of Rathcline from local people. There are art exhibitions, vintage car rally, bbq’s and a lot more.

Festival Secretary Joe O’Brien explained, “Hosting the weekend festival is proving to be very expensive but it is a cost that we are fully confident will be covered by sponsors, contributors and support of people of Lanesboro and Rathcline throughout the world. We are committed to making the weekend one that will fill everyone with a great sense and pride in our town and parish.”

Tickets for Saturday and Sunday priced at 15 euro. Check out more details on facebook/Lanesborough Gathering Festival and www.loughree.ie. Tickets on sale in Joe O’Briens corner shop and Adie Farrell’s.
