Drumlish Community Centre is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style this weekend with a number of events to cater for all ages and interests.

Drumlish Community Centre is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style this weekend with a number of events to cater for all ages and interests.

The gala weekend, which coincides with The Gathering 2013, will kick off at 8pm on Friday May 3rd with a variety concert, admission for adults is €10. Saturday May 4th will see a family fun day in the centre from 12pm – 5pm. There will be events for all the family, including a fancy dress for the children, with prizes for best dressed boy and best dressed girl.

Saturday’s Mass will be offered for the Centre, which will then be blessed. Refreshments will be served before Irish Night gets underway.

At 12.30pm on Sunday, the first annual Cairn Hill Challenge will take place with three different events; a 10k race, a 10 mile race and a shorter fun run for underage participants. Entry fee is €15 and the money raised will go to Gaels UTD Underage Football Club.

On Sunday night, the Centre will host a Double Band Extravaganza, featuring local bands the Aftermath and Night Fever starting at 10pm. There will be a fully licenced bar on the night, and admission is €10, over 18s only.

To coincide with the weekend, a book will be launched detailing the centre’s rich history through stories and pictures.

Drumlish Community centre is a great facility for all in Drumlish and indeed Longford in general. With its state-of-the-art floodlit astro turf pitch, indoor courts for a number of sports and brand new car park, the Centre is ideal for any number of activities.There are also meeting rooms in the Centre, which have proven popular.
