Canal Studio Productions at the Backstage Theatre are looking for actors from across the Midlands region to audition for roles in their upcoming production of ‘Arragh na Pogue’. The play, which will feature a cast of 15, will be directed by Backstage’s artist-in-residence, Seamus O’Rourke.
Arragh na Pogue was written by Dion Boucicault, and is considered a timeless classic.
This tale of romance and misadventure with cheeky rebels, villains, and love-struck young ones is set to be as enjoyable to rehearse as it promises to be for audiences.
The director, Seamus O’Rourke is known to many throughout the region as both a writer and director, having achieved much acclaim for his sell-out production, ‘Victor’s Dung’, which he wrote, directed and starred in.
His play ‘Ride On’ also received critical prise when it was produced and toured by the Livin Dread Teatre Company last year.
He is currently rehearsing his latest play, ‘Stalemate’, which will tour nationwide.
O’Rourke has received the RTÉ All-Ireland award for Best Director in 2005, Best Actor in 2010 and Best Supporting Actor in 2011 as a member of the Corn Mill Theatre in Carrigallen.
Auditions for the production, which is due to be staged in September 2013, will take place at Backstage on Wednesday, May 29 at 8pm.
If you are interested in auditioning contact Mona at Backstage on 043 3347888 or by email on firstname.lastname@example.org before Monday, May 27.
