Fresh from their appearance at the Helium Festival in Ballymahon, The Aftermath will launch their new single “Lost Possession” next Sunday, June 19, with a special barbecue event at Danny Byrne’s, Mullingar.
The release is their first in over two years and to celebrate, the band will make the song available as a free download on iTunes from this Friday, June 19.
The Aftermath led by the Cronin brothers Johnny and Mick create high energy mod/rock/indie pop.
‘Lost Possession’ is a taster from their second album due for release early 2012, which was recorded in The Transmission Rooms, the studio Johnny and Mick built in Drumlish, Co Longford.
The Aftermath worked on the album with Ger McDonald (U2, Travis) and Karl Odlum (The Swell Season).
Renowned for their live performances, The Aftermath have shared the stage providing support for the likes of The Script, The Pigeon Detectives, Ian Brown, Keane, The Frames, The Streets, The Mission and Razorlight. They count Kaiser Chief drummer Nick Hodgeson and Chris Moyles among their fans.
The band’s first album ‘Friendlier Up Here’ was voted into the Hot Press Best 250 Irish albums of all time.
To help launch their single, The Aftermath have enlisted the help of some of Ireland’s best original bands, including Sweet Jane, The Vibes, Icon On Fire, Dave Peyton, Peter Doran, Arrow In The Sky, We Go Go, Ricotta and Irate Sound System DJ’s.
The all-day event also includes a record fair, fire dancers, face painters, Stefan Clairvoyant, free barbecue, comedy acts and much, much more.
As well as Sunday’s gig, The Aftermath have a number of dates lined up for the summer. After Crane Lane Theatre on Monday June 19, they head off to Norway for a number of dates in July, before returning to Dublin for gigs in Odessa Club (Thurs 14th July) and The Grand Social, Dublin (Sun 17th July).
