Fair City actor Geoff Minogue (AKA Tommy Dillon) launched Audrey Healy’s most recent publication at Longford Library last week.

Mesmerised by You, written by the Rooskey native is a collection of poetry that the writer says contains a little something for everyone.

Audrey has a unique way with words, and her poetry, drawn and sketched from her own experiences of life and the experiences of others, paint a canvas provided by everyone individually.

Don’t be overly surprised to see yourself and aspects of your life in any one of her poems, and don’t be surprised, either, to see a different aspect of yourself in the same poem the next time you read it!

Thanks to her unique abilities to place her hand on the pulse of life, many of those present at the launch were reluctant to put down ‘Mesmerised by You’, so well do the poems cover so many facets of humanity.

“The poems carve out several aspects of my own journey through time,” remarked Healy who has already written seven other titles including St Thérèse in Ireland, Dubliners: What’s the Story? Contacted, (with co author Don Mullan) The Singer and the Song, Mick Flavin – Celebrating 20 Years, The Rose and the Thorn (with Don Mullan) and Afterlife.

“The titles and the content of the poems in Mesmerised by You are diverse and often intriguing from ‘Destination Unknown’ to ‘Life’, ‘Time is a Gift from God’ and ‘Music Man’. ‘These Four Walls’, ‘Confusion’, and ‘The Words I have to Say’ are thought provoking and bring the reader on their own personal journey.”

There was a large gathering at the launch night in the library including members of the author’s family and local writers.

“‘Mesmerised by You’ features a wealth of diverse and often intriguing poems about humour, love and life and includes many writings about some of Longford’s best known characters such as those portrayed in ‘Destination Unknown’, ‘More than Just a Bar Man’ and ’99 Years Young’,” Ms Healy concluded.
