Panto returns to Ballymahon this year, as the students of Ballymahon Vocational School take on the Dickens classic, ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The students are preparing to tell the legendary tale of ‘Scrooge’, for this year’s Christmas Pantomime, which runs from December 4-6

The school gym and adjoining corridors are echoing with Christmas songs as students from first to fourth year gear up to tell the story of ‘Scrooge’.

Rehearsals for ‘Scrooge’ started in mid September with a large cast to co-ordinate, as well as singing and dancing rehearsals. Mrs Johnston, the school Principal, says the dedicated pupils and staff have been working hard to make the Panto a success and are really enjoying themselves. “I have been astounded by the acting talent the students have displayed. The dedication, professionalism and ability of these youngsters is eye opening and they deserve every accolade they receive for their effort”.

Apart from being the now-traditional Christmas entertainment for the whole family, Ballymahon Vocational School has a strong and rich history in pantomime and drama. We wait with much enthusiasm for the curtain to rise and the action to begin in December! (A date to be penned into all diaries!) Next stop: Broadway!
