Local singing sensation Sean Hussey has won the opportunity of a life time. On Saturday June 25 next Sean will meet and spend time with international superstar Neil Diamond at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

“I’ve been a major fan of his for 40 years now,” said Sean who performs each week in venues throughout County Longford. “I can’t believe that I’m actually going to meet him and yes, I am thrilled.”

Sean won the opportunity when he entered a competition on the John Murray Show (RTE Radio 1).

“I had to write in 50 words or less why I should get to meet Neil Diamond,” said Sean. “I was shortlisted and then on Friday morning I got a call on my phone to say that I had won. They asked me to sing a song on the radio and I sang my personal favourite ‘I am I said’. That was about half nine.”

After years performing Neil Diamond’s work, Sean understandably has a question or two for his hero.

“I’m going to ask him if he has a few bob for me for promoting his work,” laughs Sean, who will travel to Dublin with his wife Mary. “Seriously, I would like to know about his song writing and where he gets it from.”
