Following on from the hugely successful ‘An American Wake’, local woman Pauline Flood has again put pen to paper for the Mostrim Players Pantomime ‘Snow White and the Five Dwarfs’.
Directed by Jimmy Connell, the play follows the original theme of Disney’s classic loosely, while incorporating love, modern dance, comedy, music, politics and even tax evasion!
An experienced performer, Jimmy is turning his focus to directing for the first time.
“When Pauline approached me to be director I was very hesitant, but I went with it and got stuck in,” he explains. “It has been probably the most challenging project I have ever undertaken but I get huge satisfaction from seeing the progress we have made and I hope the public will approve of the results.”
Many of the cast already have experience on the stage, but Pauline admits that one of the most satisfying aspects of the production for her is the fact that new talent is emerging all the time, with several cast members about to take to the stage for the first time.
There will be plenty in the way of entertainment, and fans of music will not be left disappointed, with performances by the very talented Lynn Fox, Marie Brady, Scotty Garry, Melanie Moran-Flood and Bilal Moran. There will also be a special performance on one of the nights by Sorcha Kenny, and the local Folk Group will also lend their talents to the show.
A reflection of modern life, the panto is very much concentrated on the people of the locality and its surroundings. You will be laughing in the aisles at some of the characters whose names may or may not sound familiar!
There are questions to be answered, such as ‘where are the other two dwarfs’, and rumours are rife that some famous personalities will be in attendance, with a major announcement in the pipeline for one of them!
These secrets are all well kept, but all will be revealed to the audience this weekend!
