The County Longford Association of New York held its 122nd annual dinner dance on Sunday, March 10, and the event was a huge success. Approximately 255 guests were present at the Astoria World Manor Hotel in Queens for the occasion which was overseen by dance chairman Aidan McGoldrick from Killoe and the association’s president Michael Prunty.

Approximately 255 guests were present at the Astoria World Manor Hotel in Queens for the occasion which was overseen by dance chairman Aidan McGoldrick from Killoe and the association’s president Michael Prunty.

Guests of honour at the event were Vincent Dougherty, whose family hails from Newtownforbes, and Elizabeth Armstrong, whose family are originally from Killoe. A number of visitors made the journey from Longford, including James Bannon TD, Longford Town Mayor Cllr Peggy Nolan and her husband Paddy, Longford County Mayor Cllr Sean Farrell, County Manager Tim Caffrey and Longford County Council Director of Services Frank Sheridan.

The guests were treated to an evening of entertainment provided by the New York Showband and a commemorative journal was produced for the event with Killoe’s Michael Carrigy taking charge of the journal committee.
