With the arrival of the Roses in Tralee, the 2015 Rose of Tralee International Festival has begun.

Over the past week, Longford Rose Daphne Howard has joined her counterparts from all over the world in a tour of some of Ireland’s best known and most-loved sites.

The tour took in attractions such as the Guinness Storehouse, Croke Park and RTÉ. The Roses also travelled to Leitrim to launch the 21st Lough Rynn Harvest Festival and Vintage Day and welcome locals to enjoy a ‘Night with the Roses’.

It has been a whirlwind few months for Daphne, with more events yet to come including the International Rose Ball as well as her appearance on the Dome stage early next week.

She’s taking it all in her stride, however, and is thrilled to be representing Longford at the prestigious festival.

“I am incredibly humbled to be representing my beloved county of Longford on an international stage and I am embracing all the wonderful experiences that I have encountered on my Rose journey,” she said.

While a crowd of supporters will make the journey to Tralee to support the Longford Rose, you can cheer Daphne on from your own home. The Rose of Tralee selection nights will be televised next Monday and Tuesday, August 17 and 18 on RTÉ1.
