Explore Longford this May Bank Holiday weekend

Longford Tourism are inviting members of the public to join them for a weekend of walking, exploring and sightseeing this May Bank Holiday weekend, as they host the first Longford Walking Festival.

Longford Tourism are inviting members of the public to join them for a weekend of walking, exploring and sightseeing this May Bank Holiday weekend, as they host the first Longford Walking Festival.

Designed for all ages and experience levels, the Longford Walking Festival will take in many of the unique sights and walks within the county.

The festival gets off to a start at the beautiful Derrycassan Woods on Saturday, May 3 at 10am. Walkers are then invited to take part in the Edenmore Bog Walk which will take place later that day at 2pm.

On Sunday, May 4 at 10am, adults and children alike are encouraged to take part in the Newcastle Woods Treasure Hunt and Walk, where a smartphone and paper-based treasure hunt will help walkers to fully explore the woods, which are located on the outskirts of Ballymahon.

Finally, the festival will come to a close on Sunday, May 4 at 2pm in Clondra, with a canal walk and family fun day planned. An ideal event for the whole family, those taking part will get a chance to take in the stunning sights and enjoy some of the various activities on offer.
