Canal Studio Productions at the Backstage Theatre will return with their latest offering “Arrah Na Pogue”, directed by Seamus O’Rourke.

Bishop Colm O’Reilly will celebrate the 7.30pm vigil mass at St Mel’s Cathedral Centre to mark his retirement as Bishop.

Creegan’s of Bunlahy will host a Trad for Trócaire session from 9pm.

Ballymahon Convent of Mercy class of 1988 reunion will take place. The evening will start with Mass in the school at 6pm followed by a meal in Cooney’s Hotel, Ballymahon at 7.30pm. There will be a DJ til late.

The annual international Claremorris Open exhibition will open. The exhibition, which continues until October 15, features work from a wide range of artists including Abbeyshrule woman Loretto Cooney.

Castletown-Finea/Coole/Whitehall (CFCW) are hosting a Sports Day in Castletown. There will be games for U-8s, U-10s, U-12s and U-14s, in addition to other sporting competitions. The events get underway at 2pm.

Edgeworthstown CCE Saturday Music club Open Day will take place from 11am to 2pm in The Green, Edgeworthstown. All are invited to come along and talk to the tutors. Tuition will be given in guitar, trad guitar, keyboard, mandolin, banjo, flute, whistle, bodhran, céili and pop drums and more. Booking is essential for numbers. Call Pauline on 086 1513152.

The parish of Killashee/Clondra will celebrate the Gathering with commemorative masses. The first will take place in St Brendan’s Church Clondra on Saturday at 8pm, the second will be in St Patrick’s Church, Killashee at 10.30am on Sunday.

Sunday, September 15:

A Junior Disco will take place from 2.30 to 4pm in the Park House Hotel, Edgeworthstown. The disco is being held to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis, particularly St Michael’s Ward in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.

Sunday, September 15:

The Longford Vintage Club annual Car Run takes place on Sunday, starting from the Rugby Club.
