Arva concert to honour Longford accordionist

Longford accordionist Gerry Gorman is to be honoured at the NYAH Festival Jig of Life Celebration Concert. The Legga native’s concert will take place on Friday April 1 next at the Brewery Bar, Arva, Co. Cavan.

Longford accordionist Gerry Gorman is to be honoured at the NYAH Festival Jig of Life Celebration Concert. The Legga native’s concert will take place on Friday April 1 next at the Brewery Bar, Arva, Co. Cavan.

Another performer attending the event is Bobby Gardiner, Clare traditional Irish button accordionist, Melodeon and lilting legend. Bobby is considered to be one of the greatest box players of our time.

Also present on the night will be Maggie and Kevin Boyle. They will provide traditional Irish ballads, story telling and banjo playing.

Other acts include Noel Sweeney, Seamus Fay, Eamonn Maguire, John Sullivan, Philip Clarke, Michael O’Gorman, Fintan McManus, Gorman Family, Trevor Bury and special guest speaker Aidan O’Hara.

MC on the night is Martin Donohoe, accordionist and Shannonside Northern Sound Radio presenter. Admission is €5 with limited seating. Tickets are on a first come first served basis, so be sure to arrive early. The concert starts at 9pm sharp in the back lounge.
