On Friday October 14 next a night to remember will take place at Grasshopper clothing store, Hibernian Court, Longford. Organised in aid of the Irish Cancer Society, the trendy Longford fashion venue will play host to the town’s first ever Fashion Fight Night. On the night ten local models will dress up in Grasshopper clothing and compete in ‘rounds’ to earn points awarded by the public.

“It promises to be a great night,” said Sarah Strange, proprietor of Grasshopper. “The whole theme is boxing and there will also be food, drinks and spot prizes throughout the night.”

Starting at 7pm, the evening’s entertainment will carry on until 10pm but audience members are invited to come and go as they wish.

“The models are going to be wearing clothes from the shop,” said Sarah. “People are welcome to come in and watch all the rounds or just stay for twenty minutes. On the night there will be 10 percent off all clothes in the shop and there will also be a 10 percent contribution from all sales towards the Irish Cancer Society.”

The fundraising event is part of three events to be held between Longford and Drumlish in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

“Grasshopper is teaming up with a group of young men who are undertaking a charity cycle from Croagh Patrick to Drumlish on October 22 next. When the guys arrive back in Drumlish there will be a final event in the Bent Elbow. We are hoping to raise P5,000 between all three events: the Fashion Fight Night, the cycle and the night in the Bent Elbow,” said Sarah.

According to Sarah, the group chose the Irish Cancer Society because there are few families that haven’t been touched in some way by the disease.

“Grasshopper is thrilled to be involved in such an important cause...we really hope to make the night a massive success for both the Irish Cancer Society and also for all involved with the cycle on October 22 next. All are welcome to come along and join in Friday night’s entertainment,” said Sarah.
