Ardscoil Phadraig, Granard

Assessment: Well done to all the incoming students who did very well in their assessment test last Saturday. We are looking forward to welcoming you all to our school in September.

Gymnastics Show: The Second Years took part in a gymnastics show on Monday and Tuesday in the Backstage Theatre, Longford. The 1st 2nd and 3rd year students went to watch. It was a great performance by the students and also a great experience. All of the students from the participating schools worked very hard and the result was a show that was very enjoyable.

Football Blitz: Last Thursday the 28th of February the 2nd year boys took part in a football blitz in Ballymahon which was organized by Longford GAA coaching and games. It was an 11-a-side blitz with a number of schools taking part such as Lanesboro, Ardscoil Phádraig, Cnoc Mhuire, Mohill CC, Ballymahon VS, and Ballymahon Mercy. There were great performances by all and we are looking forward to playing Ballymahon in the U-16 Tournament tomorrow.

ESB Mock Interviews: A series of mock interviews took place in the school last week for the School Business Partnership with the ESB. There were competency based interviews and it was a great experience for the 5th year students as it gave them an outlook on real interviews. The students received feedback on their interviews which means they know how to improve their interview skills

Rome School Tour: The school trip to Rome is only 2 and a half weeks away. There was a meeting with parents of students who are going to Rome last week and Mr Buckley and Mrs Nevin gave final information on the trip and answered parents’ questions. All that remains to be done is to get packing!

Concern: Liam Barnard from Concern returned to our school last week to speak to the 5th years about the many great things that were made possible from the €2000 raised by the students here during the concern fast. We are all so proud to see the smiling faces on the children and families and communities that have benefed from our fast. Thank you to Ms. Burke and Ms. Reilly for organising it.

New Faces: We welcome Ms Edel Mooney, Ms Catherine Dawson and Mr. Charles Heslin to Ardscoil Phádraig. They are here on teaching practice and we hope they will have a beneficial and enjoyable experience here.
