Several expensive antiques and a substantial sum of money were stolen from a private house on the Dublin Road in Longford on Monday, November 9 last.
A house in the Dun Darrach estate was entered via a rear door between 6pm and 10.15pm.
The perpetrator had forced the door open. They then stole €3,500 in cash as well as a Waterford Crystal piece and a 100 piece set of Royal Crown Derby China.
Longford Gardai are appealing for witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact them on 043 3346741.
There were two other petty thefts reported to the gardai in County Longford over the past week.
On Saturday last, November 14 a silver handbag was stolen from a parked car at Main Street in Lanesboro.
The bag contained a sum of cash, a silver iPod nano and various cards. The second incident happened on Friday last in a shop on Ballymahon Street.
At approximately 1.40pm an elderly woman was doing some shopping and put her handbag in her shopping bag.
When she checked the bag a few moments later it was gone. The black leather bag contained 2 sets of keys, a sum of cash and several cards. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact Longford Gardai.
A car was set on fire in Longford town on Friday night. The multi-coloured Ford vehicle which was parked outside Fee Court was set alight at around 11.50pm and was totally burned out.
The vehicle had been parked outside the estate for some time. The gardai are also looking for assistance on this matter.
