House raided in Edgeworthstown in relation to shooting incident

Gardai raided a house in the Edgeworthstown area this evening as part of their investigations into a shooting incident in Longford town this morning.
The Longford Gardai were joined at the scene in Edgeworthstown by the Regional Response Unit during the follow up search.

At around 6.20am this morning three gun shots were fired through the front window of an occupied house in Ardnacassa near the Social Welfare offices. No-one was injured during the incident and the Gardai spent today searching for a silver Mondeo vehicle which was seen outside the house when the gun shots were fired.

The house was sealed off this morning while the Longford Gardai carryied out a technical examination.

The Gardai are still appealing for witnesses to the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 33 46741.
