Gardai are appealing for information this morning (Friday) after a number of gunshots were fired at a house in the Ardnacassa area of Longford town.
Detectives heading up the inquiry are looking to track down a silver Mondeo vehicle which pulled up at the house at around 6:20am this morning when the shots were fired.

Three shots were fired through the front window of the occupied house near the Social Welfare Offices. Nobody was injured during the incident but the occupants are said to be very shocked by what happened.

The house is currently sealed off and the Longford Gardai are carrying out a technical examination.

Superintendent Denis Shields from Longford Garda Station told www.longfordleader.ie that no arrests have been made in relation to the incident at this early stage but said officers were in the process of taking witness statements at the scene.

Asked about the motives behind this morning's shooting, Supt Shields said it was too early to say, adding: "We are not clear at this stage."

Anyone with information are asked to contact Longford Garda Station on 043 33 46741.
