Musicians celebrate new CD to raise hospice funds

When Steve McGovern died from pancreatic cancer in February of this year, it was a shock to everyone who knew him. A young musician aged just 43, he was a talented piano player who championed the blues in Dublin, in his home county of Cavan and in the areas around Boyle and Carrick-on-Shannon where he lived with his partner Susan Tomelty.

Now, to celebrate his memory and in an effort to try and channel some good from of this tragic event, Steve's partner Susan has produced a CD in conjunction with some of their friends to raise funds for the Northwest Hospice in Sligo.

Contributors include - Susan Tomelty, Charlie McGettigan, Noel Bridgeman, John Quearney, Eddie Lynch, Ed Deane and a track produced by the late Steve.

The CD is called 'Love will Linger ' which takes its title from a track contributed by Charlie McGettigan. All proceeds from sales and royalties will go directly to the Northwest Hospice to assist them in their delivery of palliative services for the North West region.

Others who gave their services freely were Lake Recording Studios, Colette Langan, Deirdre Langan and Joe Collins & Damian Bell at McConnells Media Group.

"It allows friends and family to express our thanks to the Northwest Hospice for the care and compassion they showed to Steve and to support them in their ongoing good work," says Susan.

CDs can be ordered on-line by secure weblink at www.northwesthospiceCD2009.com
