Longford-based O’Hanlon wins ‘Celtic Cook-Off’ in West Cork Hotel
Garry O'Hanlon, who last night won the 'Celtic Cook-Off' in Cork
Viewmount House chef Garry O’Hanlon won the ‘Celtic Cook-Off’ in the West Cork Hotel in Skibbereen last night.
The event consisted of a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ style cook-off with six chefs from the six Celtic territories attempting to impress the judges and win out.
The other chefs on the night included Jack Stein (son of TV chef Risk Stein) representing Cornwall, as well as representatives of restaurants in Wales, Scotland, Brittany, and the Isle of Man.
However, Garry’s dish of Loin of Hill Lamb, with bone marrow and wild artichoke, topped off with West Cork Garlic with Honey, won the day, impressing the judges with its harnessing of Irish and local ingredients.
The event was part of the Taste of West Cork Food festival which continues until this Sunday.
