Social housing funding approved

Longford County Council have confirmed that they have been approved funding for a number of house purchases under the Social Housing Improvement Programme. A total allocation of €990,000 has been approved to cover purchases in both Longford town and county with funding priortised for areas of greatest housing need.

In some cases, houses are being purchased in unfinished estates where this has the added benefit of bringing those estates to a taking in charge standard.

A representative from Longford County Council said they could not comment on the location of the properties which will recieve the funding, as a number of transactions are still in progress.
