Proposals sought for outdoor art in Athlone

Could you create a work of art worthy of the ‘red carpet’? Athlone Art and Heritage is inviting proposals for artworks in the form of outdoor art or installation to accompany the opening ceremony of the new Luan Gallery. Ideas from artists working in all creative disciplines under the theme of ‘Red Carpet’ are welcome.

Aedín McGinn, Visual Art Coordinator, Athlone Art and Heritage, said, “The opening of the new Luan Gallery will be the perfect ‘stage’ for both artists and arts groups as their work will be seen by an active, creative and engaged audience as well as regionally and internationally based arts practitioners.”

Visual media and design works, temporary installations, time-based media, musical presentations, dance, movement art, theatre, sound performance and interactive concepts as well as existing work may be submitted. Artists are encouraged to make the most of the outdoor space, the exterior of the building, the river and the surrounding area in their proposal. Outdoor installations and concepts should be designed with the Luan Gallery opening ceremony and its site in mind.

All costs involved with presentation, art installation, de-installation, performance, artist(s) fees and/or supplies, must be included in a proposal budget of €500.

For further information including a detailed brief or to submit a proposal contact AedínMcGinn, Visual Art Coordinator, Athlone Art and Heritage at: gallery@athloneartandheritage.ie Deadline for submissions is 5.30pm Monday 5th November 2012.
