If you derive pleasure from the thoughts of watching fully grown men reduced to tears as a result of a leg or chest waxing, then you should pop into MB Coys this Friday (September 14) for a waxathon in aid of a very good cause.

A host of local men, including Longford GAA star Declan Reilly and Longford Slashers sharpshooter Stephen Philips have offered up their hair for St Christopher’s Services and for the amusement of the rest of us.

Over 20 men from all across the county will be subjected to a waxing, and our laughter, under the professional guidance of Eva Maguire and Angela Reynolds.

All money raised will go to St Christopher’s Services, which has been severely hit by a reduction to funding.

Due to the cutbacks, St Christopher’s Services relies very heavily on fund -raising initiatives like this.

“This year has been particularly tough for St Christopher’s due to the scale of the cutbacks, but there’s lots of good natured fund-raisers such as the charity waxathon that are incredibly important to us,” fund-raising committee member Michelle Reilly told the Leader.

“Friday night promises to be good fun; we’ve been promised lots of hairy chests and legs, so it should be a good laugh watching the men squirm,” Michelle laughed.

There will also be a few surprises on the night, with some yet to be announced waxers set to be auctioned off to the highest bidder. However, Michelle is giving away none of the details.

The fundraising committee have expressed their thanks to MB Coys for staging the night, Vincent Maguire Hair & Beauty for providing the materials and Eva Maguire and Angela Reynolds for lending their expertise.

The St Christopher’s charity waxathon rips-off this Friday (September 14) at 9pm in MB Coys.
